This policy explains how Activities Bonaire, operated by Caribious ("we", "us"), collects and uses your personal data when you use our website or book an activity. We are the data controller. You can reach us at info@caribious.com or Kaya Berilo 38, Bonaire, Caribbean Netherlands.
1. What we collect
- Booking details — your name, email address, phone number, and the activities, dates and number of guests you book.
- Payment information — processed securely by our payment providers (Bokun and our PCI-compliant card payment provider). We do not store full card numbers ourselves.
- Enquiry details — anything you send us through the contact form or WhatsApp.
- Usage data — basic, mostly anonymous information about how the site is used, to keep it working and improve it.
2. Why we use it and our legal basis
- To provide your booking — to confirm, deliver and support your activity (legal basis: performance of a contract).
- To answer your enquiries — to reply to your messages and help plan your trip (legal basis: your consent / our legitimate interest).
- To run and improve the website — security, functionality and analytics (legal basis: legitimate interest).
- To meet legal obligations — e.g. accounting and tax (legal basis: legal obligation).
3. Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with the local tour Operator that runs your activity, so they can deliver it, and with our payment and booking-technology providers. We do not sell your personal data. Our main processors are Bokun (booking technology), our card payment provider, and our email provider.
4. International transfers
Where data is processed outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses). Where any provider processes data outside the Caribbean Netherlands or the EU, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal/accounting requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised. For example, we keep booking and payment records for 7 years to meet tax and accounting obligations.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You can also withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email info@caribious.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority (the Dutch Data Protection Authority — Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens — or the competent authority for the Caribbean Netherlands).
7. Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the site and, where applicable, to understand usage. If we introduce analytics or marketing cookies in future, we will add a cookie banner asking for your consent and describe them here.
