A few days after full moon a phenomenon happens underwater in the Caribbean Sea; Underwater fireworks by tiny creatures called Ostracods. Ostracods are tiny creatures living in fresh and salt water. They belong to the Crustacea (lobsters, shrimps and crabs) and there are Seed shrimps. They are only a few millimeters long and they swim to shallower water for mating, the males glow to attract a partner. This phenomenon is called bioluminescence.
We organize these dives once a month: we will watch this magical show for about 20-25 minutes. You need to be ready to dive in complete darkness (with dive light switched off). After the ‘show’ we will continue with the night dive but with our lights on.
Our ostracods dives are planned at the right time and at the right spot.
Please make sure when you want to join our guided dives, you have done your orientation dive first. It can be done with one of our instructors or you can do this dive with your buddy.
