Lionfish 🦁 are a major threat to marine biodiversity in the Caribbean. As an invasive species, they have no natural predators and reproduce rapidly — devastating local reef ecosystems. In this specialty course, you’ll learn how to safely and effectively remove lionfish from the reef using tools that are allowed within the Bonaire National Marine Park (BNMP).
Once certified, you’ll be allowed to hunt lionfish on Bonaire using the ELF tool and Zookeeper, under the official permit regulations. You’ll also join the network of local conservation divers working to protect our reefs.
What you'll learn
The course qualifies divers to control the Lionfish on Bonaire. After the course, you can book your Lionfish control dives with us or join our volunteer network.
